Bugger I get 18-19 pushing the 3.2 Auto Ranger 21-22 towing like Miss Daisy

Your driving like Miss Daisy is one thing, dressing like her is just weird. :-/

With the impending doom of our Navara, which is 9 years old, always kept covered and only hit 60k recently (and never dunked) we're looking at the new Amarok, when available. the Nav is falling apart and has had extensive welding in the last 2 years. The new Amarok are all V6 Tdi's with the top spec pushing 220hp and a tow limit of 3.5te. Way overkill for my little boat but we have other reasons for a pickup.

Incidentally, the 2014 A6 2.0 tdi also makes a very good tow vehicle.

Better in what respect? , my Defender TD5 or Petrol RR both have loads of power and have towed from Uk to germany a few times without an issue , seem good to me and cheap to run.

The TD5 has never had a single issue , the RR had a flat battery in the winter once.

RR will tow 3,500kg the defender has been known to tow 6 tons!

The Disco meander is a common issue & most of the time you can blame it on the geometry of the Panhard rod rear link system, up & down movement of the suspension causes subtle left to right movement in the body = wobble. Made worse with poor loading, modified springs, worn shocks etc. However as standard when new sitting in the back of one its noticeable to passengers.

This applies to MK 1.2.3 with the solid axles of course

If you can handle £500 a month on repair bills, like lots of toys that don't work when you need them and have no particular need to get to you destination. there's only one way to travel (between workshop visits).......Mercedes ML320. Never, never, never ,never again!!!!!

Disco 4, the finest tow vehicle currently available to Joe Public. Pulls uphill & brakes down dale, no wobble, stops on a sixpence & will accelerate uphill with 2.5t hung on the back & still return 24mpg. You can hear yourself whisper as its only doing 1500rpm@70mph.

I'm towing with a 2012 A4 Allroad Quattro 2.0TDI (170bhp). Beautiful car to drive, feels big compared to older A4 and increased ride height for towbar is perfect. Towbar is hidden too when not in use.

Does anyone know of a better tow car?

24 mpg that's poop my 130 does loads better and the Disco does 29 mpg at least with the rib carrying 300 L of fuel & kit

Yes there was a w10 I think it was, epic bus that.

I don't know how some people are getting 30mpg towing with a disco, fair play though, impressive.
