Well, I test drove a 4.2 blown Rangie today, 1 year old, £76 new.. 6K miles on the clock .. going for 49 big ones.. and no thanks. When I saw one in the show room new, it looked great, but I have to say, one year on and the switch gear is tacky, the console flimsy, washers didnt work right, door panels have varying gaps,.. carpets look like a poor B&Q/Halfords twill,.. why do people rate them so well apart from their off roading ability ?. Height & prescence maybe,.....and a nice boot.. but honestly, Gerry is streets ahead. My old BMW 4.6 would out perform it, beat its fuel consumption,(with its bigger engine) and not rattle after 20000 miles... and unlike the one I drove today ... still have all its trim intact ...Only 6k the Rangie had on the clock, and bits were falling off it !! shocking

>> cue attack from Lee Enfield snipers.. well I'm entrenched .. with my Krummer Lauf barrel attachment

I bet that was the one that was stolen and stripped out - then put back together by the dealer!!!

Seriously though you just don't know it's history and to make up your mind after looking at just ONE car is silly.

A bloke I know has a 3 yr old with 120,000 on the clock and it's still looks mint. My mate's brand new Porsche Cayenne was literally off the road for 2 weeks with a sunroof that had stuck open - great in this weather!!!

Just picked up the new X5 today £400 road tax ..pffft...Grr .. but you know... Gerry know their stuff, it is a motor and a half. I say new.. it is to me .. 5K on the clock and some poor bugger has lost sixteen grand off the new price in 6 months ... well he obviously could afford it .. Its not the most environmentaly friendly model but it goes like fook, and that means I dont leave too much carbon in too many places Tested the rest.. thought me old X5 4.6 is was good, and didnt think I'd get better, how wrong I was .. top motor

£16,000 in 6 months??? A Range Rover Sport wouldn't lose anything like that much.........

Quite right in letting someone else pay for it though!!!

My logic works this way.

Citron Picasso (so loved by them with kids) 1.6 Diesel produces 92bhp or 57.5 bhp per 1000cc of engine.

Ferrari F430 4.3 petrol produces 483bhp or 112.3 bhp per 1000cc of engine.

Therefore a F430 engine is more efficient.
A F430 is faster than a Picasso, so will spend less time going from A to B so will spend more time parked producing zero carbon.

A F430 has a lot less plastic in it that a Picasso and so has used less of mother earths limited natural resources.

Ergo a F430 is the way to save the planet for all the kits in the Picasso.

Apart from the fact that half the trim hasn't fallen off at this stage like it does on all the Rangies (Why people put up with that, for that money?) .. it wont need a service for about 2 years thereby conserving oil ... the planets most precious resource.... I am green after all

Sorry guys, our X5 is for sale. Personally, I think one looks a bit of a twat driving such a car these days. The 'cred' of such a ride is shot to shit! The greenies and Jade Goody have conspired to turn them into transport for tossers. A Disco just about hangs in there as it is a competent work tool.

Which must be about the most un-green thing you can do.

mdt, you'll need to explain that one to me.
