I have seen the results of Which mags recommendations on computer equipment - then had to sort the problems out - usually for pensioners - not my favourite mag!!!

I missed a very important meeting last week - not because my 1998 disco broke down but because an brand new Audi A6 did. In the last year my mate's Porsche Cayenne has broken down several times as has another's VW Passat.

as all manufacturers are constantly trying to add more and more kit into new cars there is just going to be more and more to go wrong.

how ever did we manage to get from A-B with out

Auto dipping rear view mirrors

lights that can think for them self

lane departure warning

and every thing with a acronym

what was ever wrong with a proper hand brake... other than it took up room that the designers wanted for the in-car control of everything. I don't really see the need to have 7 settings for the dampers....

look under the bonnet or the dash of a 60's car what is there to go wrong ???????

I agree but auto dipping rear mirrors are great - as long as the door mirrors do as well.

reliabilty

you may or may not remember in previous thread i harped on a about the reliabilty of Honda's as every body thinks that they are great, but the crv 2.2 cdti exec i had was'nt it needed 27 warranty claims in 30 months before i finally ditched it !!!

ok i did 108,000 miles in that time but even so

i have had all sorts of cars over the years generally doing between 30-45k miles per year and the most reliable of all of them was a mondeo 2 of them a 1.8 and a 2 litre

i ve had various stuff 2 A6, 3 CRV's Vectras lagunas p405/406 astras escort/focus megane etc etc

i now rather strangely have another CRV but touch wood 30k since oct 07 and not a single thing wrong yet ?

as for the queen drives a LR , that explains all the escorts that go with her, there their for when it breaks down again

Andy
