we tow our Ribeye 4.5m & T15 with a BMW 318D SE Touring, towed the Ribeye from Bangor ( Northern Ireland ) to Cardiff via Rosslaire two w/es ago to attend a Classic Speedboat rally
( T15 had to stay at home )
fuel consumption for return trip was 42 mpg and no problems on the slip at CYC.

( some photos of the classic speedboats at Cardiff, no ribs )

It's overkill but I tow my 4m caribe with a Volvo v70 estate 2.4 td. It could probably tow my house. I keep telling the girlfriend we need a bigger boat to give the car something more of a challenge to tow

We tow our 6m humber behind a subaru legacy 2l petrol. Its been fine over long distances (towing it up to Oban from Hull) and our normal launch site involves going up a 1 in 7 hill which it tackles no bother with the low ratio gearbox. The low ratio is also great for launching and hauling up steep slipways. They are however a little thirsty.

Yes Paul - I realised my error after I posted and couldn't be bothered to correct it. Oh and I don't personally have anything against vectra's, I just know Clarkson does...... Never mind.

ribcraft 585 + zafira 2.0 diesel - towed from Ribcraft in Yeovil to Belfast no problem. Never had any problems on slipway, although slips i use are all concrete. Just fitted new clutch at 86k.

Make sure you have some rope for recovery on sand. Unlike the numpties on Nant Bychan last weekend with their 2 ton boat and a Discovery they didn't want to get dirty!!!!!! I got them out of the sand with the 60 year old Fordson..

I use an Audi A6 2.7TDI V6 Quattro Auto, it's the dogs bo**cks, you hardly know the boats there, I also use my VW Transporter 2.5 TDI, it's not so good, lacks the horse power of the Audi. Oh I have/tow a 5.25m Osprey Viper with a 90hp Mariner.
