Sorry just phoned my mate to make sure - the fuel pump problem is on the 2L 16v engines - not the old 1.9 which is normally pretty reliable so back to square 1 I am afraid!!!

Cheers mate, jsut found that info on the net. I'm sure it's part of the Oil system though. Maybe a port is blocked or something. Bouth it June 07 so not 2 years old yet. Used to work in vuaxhall parts many moons ago and remember warranties being a mine field. Corsa GSI's at the time kept coming back with damaged heads due to a design fault. Warranty paid for the repair but for some reason the customer had to pay for a new oil pump

Tomorrow could be a bad day!

it should have 3 years warranty , the 1.9 is reputed to be the most reliable , less to go wrong I guess .

Lots of good info here , if its a common fault someone will know about it

Sorry forgot to update this. Van went in on Wednesday and it turned out to be something wrong with the engine management system. Sorted on warranty and they only had it for around 4 hours. Why a simple 1.9TD needs an engine management system is beyond me!

Airflow, fuel injection, timing plus a load of other stuff. Who needs any of that crap on an engine?
No such thing as a 'simple' engine anymore.

That's true. But remember the old ford transit diesels? Simple to take a part and fix and went on for ever.

My ears will never forget , the main difference is the VW has twice the power of the transit for the same or better mpg . If its as reliable over the next 80k I will be really pleased
