Normally I get somewhere around 8000 miles but it can be down to 6000 miles.

I had pirelli's from new on my diesel Subaru legacy but I found them a bit soft.. Great grip but by god they didn't last too long!! Just got firestones on there before Xmas ( and the heavy snow!!) and have so far found them great.. Great grip and just a bit more Han half the price of the pirelli!

So , need to replace 2 of mine soon ( 235/60H18) and wondering where people find can get the not so common sizes at not so nuts prices ?

I usually get about 35000 miles from the fronts - up to 50k on the back - I dont drive slow - just have a smooth style so am gentle on the motor overall and its not a performance drive in anyway !

Usual stuff - 99% on road 1% wet slips / muddy tracks/ towing etc. Like Ian snow is very very rare ...

Got Continentals on my BMW 255/40R17 on the back and they do the job nicely, 140 each though.
I would have got the Ultracs but needed them sharpish.

Peter, I found that I had to just bash my tyre size into a number of sites and see what prices came up. I've now got the General Grabbers on the wagen and so far so good, but not many miles on them so far. Grip seems good, and they are quieter than the Pirellis. Noticeably better ride. Oh, and a fair bit cheaper

I agree I had the 230bhp C70 ages ago, which went well, but it was a front tyre shredding machine .. 6K was not unusual .. when looking for tyres, brand were largely irrelevant IMHO, because it ate what ever you fitted
