Suzuki GV

Hi Folks,
Looking to buy a new towcar in the next 4 weeks whilst I am on leave.

I've looked at all sorts of options and am pretty much decided on a Suzuki Grand Vitara LWB 5 door with the 2.0 16v petrol in it. About £3500 should get me into a 60k mile 53 plate with the face lifted interior.

The diesel would be better for towing and return about 5-6mpg more but has numerous ECU/electrical problems and blown turbo issues. Petrol will be about £1000 less to buy and has a Chain rather than Cambelt.

The boat weights about 1000kgs all up on a braked trailer and the Gv is rated to 1850. Other advantages include not having to do my B+E trailer test and it will fit under the rather low roller doors on the Garage!

AFAIK the GV is the only small 5 door 4x4 that has a propper 4x4 system with low-range. It is also easy to modify to give low-ratio 2WD without resorting to manual hubs.

Anybody used one in anger?

Mark.
