The war on the motorist continues!!!

Dedicated police teams from Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Avon and Somerset, and Dorset are to join the Devon and Cornwall force in targeted patrols.

They are using UNMARKED cars!!!

They caught hundreds last year.

Good. I have no problem at all with people travelling at an appropriate speed (regardless of which side of the limit it falls) and if people want to remove themselves from the gene pool by not wearing a seatbelt then that is also fine by me.

Yes but the problem is the Police will not be selective - they don't only fine the people you don't agree with............

And if you lived in Swansea you would find that jumping red lights at night(no traffic around) has almost become a necessity!!!

I don't disagree with using unmarked cars just wish they would put the same amount of effort into other crimes ie theft from motors etc once again the motorist is a soft touch and it boosts their stats

The motorist is an increasingly easy target, unlike those who burgle or steal boats where more work is required.

Personally I'm fed up with the war on motorists.

Sorry Codders, you misunderstood - when I said I don't have a problem with speeders / non seatbelt wearers, I also don't have a problem with them getting nicked. Think of it as a high tech natural selection.

The police are ALWAYS selective - if they stopped everyone doing 80MPH on the motorway they would have caught a lot more people.

No the inductive loop sensors never seem to work any more and they set the lights to give priority to minor roads.

If it's clear and there is nobody around why not? It MUST be ok - the Police do it all the time..........

Ahh but what about when they move the parameters to make everything you do a crime?

Dropping speed limits all over the place despite cars being safer - painting yellow lines where they are not needed - deliberately buggering up traffic lights - the list is endless.

And getting caught for not paying attention? They hide cameras in horse boxes and wheelie bins now - it's just not cricket!!!

And Codders, no that doesn't mean I never speed. But I have never been stopped for speeding! I accept that if either I choose to speed or am not paying proper attention and allow my speed to exceed the speed limit enough to get stopped that I run the risk of getting a fine/points etc.

I still have a clean licence as well but it is getting harder and harder to maintain it - maybe not in Scotland but when they are even trying out speed cameras in cat's eyes no amount of "paying attention" will help you!!!

And now they want average speed cameras to cover massive stretches of road.

War on the motorist? It's more like a massacre.................

we've had then in a few places up here for a few years... I would guess many of your "fleet" have cruise control (or are old landies that don't go fast) - so average speed cameras aren't really a problem
