Roof boxes

I'm sure there must be a lot of roof box users on RIBnet.

I've not had one before and I'm looking for a half-width one to mount on existing roof rails (need room for pushbike as well).

Does anyone have recommendations (or ones to avoid) please?

I'm no big fan of Halfrauds but they have some discounts on theirs at the moment - are they OK?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike, i've had a thule roof box for about 5 years now, got it from halfords, was about 200 quid. Its the long half width cigar shape one that you can get skis in. Wouldnt be without it. Also, because of the shape, i can get an upturned canadian canoe on the roof as well, it just sits over the box! Dont know about the halfords own make, but they looked a bit cheap to me.

I've got the same one as Vince. Does the job and is solid.

Not sure about Halfords own make. Although personally I don't think they look as good as the Thule stuff.

Everytime someone mentions Roof Boxes I've just gotta laugh about the time my mate received a phone call from his missus that she'd just driven the family Picasso into a mutli storey car park in Reading.

The car had a roof box on at the time and it didn't fit in the multi storey. Their were bits of roof box every where.

I got a Kamei unit like you describe from these people a couple of years ago.

Works well for me; two independent locks.

Maybe not as advanced as the Thule ones but does the job and has a long warranty (cant remember how many years) on the plastic.

Regards,

Orve.
