Because when the air/fuel ratio is the same the header pipes run at the same temperature. Quite accurate really

Its obviously easier with Bikes cos they have 4 seperate header pipes rather than a manifild

I just found it easier to match the header temps at idle than muck about with a set of vacum gauges.

Are you gonna race it . My last apprentice had a go at that combo Moto x lark . He was a good rider but i think it got the better of him 130 hp sidecar on the dirt

Nah, the frame's too low for anything other than flat dirt. Here's the 850 which is currently waiting for the GS11 lump.

I bet you get strange temp readings with all that black paint maybe we should compare my bike is silver so should run 4degrees cooler at sea level

Most did, but just to upset the cloth cap brigade it is based on the rare Z1000H that was the forerunner to the Gpz1100 injection. There was only 200 brought into the country, and very few that have not been converted to carbs by now.

Been a lot of fun building it over the years.

There is a bit of history i didn't know . i had a GPZ1100 b2 and then an early 900r among others . I still have valve shims and a shimming tool for that motor somewhere. Great days

The A1 was the unitrak one, the B2 was the twin shock model.

Bit hazy, I was about 15 when they came out. I think it was the B1 that was basically an injected Zed Thou in red and black. Then the B2 was twin shock with the bikini and, guessing now, it was the B3 that had a soppy looking half fairing and Unitrack rear end.

B1 had twin shocks and FI no fairing B2 was similar but with better FI and a bikini fairing .
the later A1 had unitrack and a bigger top fairing and more laid down riding position with fuel guage on the tank A2 was an updated model of the A1
My dad and I had identical B2's then he bought an A2 and I had the 900r when it first came out .

The 1100 models didn't handle too well ,flexy frame, but the 900r was a revelation , it won the IOM in 1984.
My mate had one too we went to a trackday at Goodwood and ended up in the local paper with the fastest speed ever recorded on a bike down the strait 147mph . Mainly because nothing very modern had raced at the old circuit in years. There was a copper there on a bike recording the speeds with a vascar I think.

I think you're right about the B1. The B2 was definitely the twinshock/bikini faired one though (mate had a gasflowed and overbored one with GSXR flatslides )

This was my Gpz1100A1 after the fairing got trashed.
