Pimp My Monty (Trooper)

OK as some of you now know I have a grown-up 4x4 Diesel burner. I want to add some accessories.

I want a front mounted tow hitch to aid me in getting the boat up the driveway, I'm not worried about winch bumpers but a nice Bull Bar would be nice. (missed a nice one on ebay)

There are some cosmetics that need attention, notibly a key scratch down the off side. This could be covered up using a 40mm wide chrome self adhesive trim. However the jurys out to whether this will look right as I'm being dictated to by the scratch. Might get some graphics but would be difficult as the scratch is nearly 2 meters long and any graphic would really need to go from front to back.

The Rear bumper where it meets the wheel arch is detatched but this is an easy fix.

I've got on order and am going to apply some Dark smoke tint to the rear 8 windows as this seems like the cheapest option in keeping prying eyes out the back.

I went to install my Alpine head unit only to find out the tuners up the creek. The remote CD changer and tape worked just fine, but I do love to listen to the radio. So I guess that 5 years on a shelf in the garage has done it no favours at all I loved that sound!! So I guess it's off to Flea Bay for a replacement as I can't justify spending more than £400 on sterio equipement these days.

I want some side bars too.

Any other Ideas?.

Instead of a chrome strip what about that stick on vinyl woodgrain - or maybe even a rubbing strake???

I'm just happy to have a diesel truck that should just about cope with anything I throw at it

I fancy one of those Roo bars you get for the Holdens in Aus. Must weigh a Tonne, everybugger would get out the way though

What truck is it exactly?

If you're lucky the chassis mounted front hoop like on mine will bolt on.

I've had the radiator grill off today to look at something else and there are two ends of the chassis rail that something will bolt to. There is a 12mm hole going from one side of the member to the other, but to utilize this I would need tabs on the bracket of the bull bar and this doesn't seem right. Might be better to either drill a hole top to bottom or use U bolts. I'd have thought there would be a top mounting rail to support the top of the bull bar and hold it rigid. can't find anything solid enough for my liking. The other thing is that I want a front towbar, so will have to make something to fit to the chassis rails to fix this onto and then fit the bull bar to this somehow.

when you've finished with DP (note not DG) heavy breathing I'd get a bar with some spots on the roof and a nasher like roof rack maybe. Small spots as reversin lamps are very useful

I've got a sapre landie frnt bumper which you can have for free

I've also got a Clarion head unit and an infinity 2 x 12 sub which you can also have but not for free

Good reversing lamps are often overlooked.......tractor work lamps are good, they are a flood rather than a narrow fog or spot beam.

dunno about the roof mounted spot lights or a permanent roof rack, but good Idea about the rear flood light guys, I could have done with them a couple of weeks ago when I was recovering.

I've just won an auction for a Alpine Head unit, but might be interested in the Sub if it's not too big.

And whats this Sapre landie front bumper you got or was it a spare one? Has it got a winch or towing facilities.

PM me if you like.

It is. On a K reg though so it's getting old but doesn't seem to have any wrinkles. Gaps up OK all round so if it has been in a bang it has been jigged right.
One thing it's got I don't like, and I hate on any car, is chrome bumpers!

,It/s a vey rare sapre mudlover mark4g straight forward chunky Landie bumper of course it's not a winch bumper that's why its a spare. I may have had a hook on the front I can't remember but that's easy enough to sort for a man with your skils

It's the pitted chrome I don't like though. I'm in heated talks with the guardian of the purse strings over a few things. But I'm hoping her still having the car when I go out on the RIB will sell the idea, even if it will skint us. Although things are heated over me wanting to spend a bit on, resin, glass and flocoat at the min.

Just going to put some savlon on the thumbprint on my forehead.....

So how much for the sub and does it have an amp?

I'll hold off on the Landie bumper for the mo thanks Stu and will hold out for a Isuzu unit.
