Get the proper factory electrics, I have recenetly done it with a ML320, If you dont, your airmatic suspension wont know your towing, your rear parking sensor's wont automatically get switched off, trailer stability control wont work.
As for a towbar, a Westfalia detachable is what Mercedes fit and you can get them for a decent price off the net.

Razorbill. l Checked out the snorkel situation. As you correctly stated only available for 4.0 and 4.7 currently. Have contacted Safari to see if there are any plans to do one for the CRD.

Thanks for that ..... whats the best price you could do for a 4.0? .......That said, if the wife finds out she will kill me, we've just bought a smallholding (well, exchange end of this week all being well....will relax after that) and need to buy loads of stuff....snorkel doesn't feature highly on the requirements list..... Have already been looking at that old man EMU kit you mentioned.....do you supply those too?

We supply the Old Man Emu (OME) kit as well (OME is part of ARB). several spring and shock absorber options to suit the weights and usage. Will send you some prices tomorrow.

Mechanically, the Nissan 4.2 Y60 was one of the toughest vehicles out there. The downside was no turbo, so it was strong but a big sluggish. The body was quite narrow for its wheel track. It had wide axles but a narrow body with enormous arches, meaning it wasn't as spacious as the Land Cruiser. Its biggest downside was the thinness and quality of the steel and lack of protective finish of the steel used to build the body, ensuring it suffered badly with rust. Most of them got scrapped due to rust whilst still driving perfectly.

The 80 series Land Cruiser is still king in my books.
