Bruce, if the Jeep needs work /you decide to do it prior to selling, have a look on Ebay for parts (Jeep Chrysler specialist down South, forget their name now). I have always used EDM, Lighthouse etc, but these guys seem to beat all of them for price. Generally, I have seen a BIG reduction in prices for parts for my GC over the past couple of years....touch wood the Cherokee (Liberty) has not had any probs...

Getting parts is not a problem its just that I am putting in in a month early to see what it fails on (it will fail on front suspension ball joints for certain) If its not too much I may repair and keep for a little while longer till I can find a replacement.
Its just getting "tired" and I don't think it is now up to towing a boat throughout scotland into remote areas any longer, not because it has let me down but simply it is getting quite old and rough now.
I have had 10 years troublefree use and its time to replace it before the summer and its long tows north........

Hi

I am currently running a 2.2cdti honda crv and have been really pleased with it although it is the new shape 57 plate and i do not tow with it and have a Mitsibushi Delica for that

the tow limit on the CRV is 2tons so no problems there i have covered 89,000 miles in 26 months with out any major problems

BUT i did have the previous shape CRV 2.2 desiel and it was Cr4p !!
27 warranty claims in 24 months very poor but this one has been great

I had a look at Kia Sorrentos, Kia Sportage, Nissan Qashquai 4x4 and Nissan X-trails at the weekend.
I really like the Sorrento till I saw it cost 30k!

Well I just changed my crappy commercial Rexton 4x4 for another

It does the job .. for 17k + vat .. anyways you only need two seats .. the wife can go in the back Bruce

Plus it looks like something costing 35K... ok so I stuck on a couple of K's worth of extras .. 5year warranty .. who cares if its plasticky .. its dash is better put tegether than many Range rovers I've sat in

Yeah, I checked out £70k's worth of RR Vogue in our main dealer showroom yesterday, whilst waiting for them to give my Disco back. Those RR Vogues really are shite when compare to a Rexton. 'Here Boy'. woof, woof.

Well I thrashed the last one on and off sites for over 4 years and couldnt break it .. like I said before their biggest problem is depreciation,.. but hey ... it probably equals the mileage and fuel costs of taking your Discos and RRs back for warranty work

Bruce as a Sorento owner I agree with what Doug M said. The old shape is a better car for what you are looking for. I am sure if you did a search you would pick up an old shape for a ggod price.

My mate has a Santa Fe I was quite impressed with how it towed our 5.5m Delta with 100hp 4st yam. He did consider the 6 cylinder petrol as a gas conversion option but went for the 2.7diesel.

As doggypaddle said earlier I'm off to slam my head in my landrover door 4 times plus an extra one for not getting my Isuzu engine fitted yet.

Well the Cherokee surprisingly passed its MOT easily a couple of months ago so the pressure was taken off for a while.
However I did still look and plan on replacing it in the near future. Ended up buying an 07 Sorento XS today with only 15000miles on the clock and FSH etc.
Just need to fit a tow bar and hopefully towing the RIB around will be slightly more comfortable on the bum and the wallet.........

well done Bruce welcome to the sorento club you will not be disappointed it will tow your rib with ease and it is a dream to tow. One word of advice if reversing when launching with your wife directing lift the tailgate it is much easier to see the trailer and hear the commands.

Picked it up saturday on the way to IOM, not got it home yet as the missus jumped out in Glasgow on the way back and went visiting with it to Fife.
Just waiting for her to get home to fit the towbar and load liners etc.
Hopefully get it all sorted for the weekend to go somewhere but first impressions from her phone calls is that she is impressed, and thats not normally very easy to do......
