Unless it's a proper Land Rover warranty it will be a waste of money 🙄 when you read the small print not much is covered

Highly recommend an Nanocom Evolution or IID tool diagnostic unit. Or your end up spending a fortune at dealers chasing simple faults.
They both cost about £400 but mine has paid for itself several times over.

Well, I bought the LR3, and I am one very happy chap.

The vehicle is immaculate, inside and out.

Full LR service history, and all the belts have been done, (by LR)

And boy, did I enjoy the drive home.....

Also, I have already started to look at buying the iid tool...!

find yourself a good local independent Land Rover specialist and let them service etc for you, it will be time and money well spent, have a look on the disco3 forum, there's bound to be some recommendations for local garages on there

My dad uses a Britpart Lynx thing, don't remember the cost but it lives in a small box with a netbook and a charger in the boot of the Disco. Whenever the car is unhappy and in the want of attention whilst on the road you can quickly remove faults that would lead to it going into "limp home mode" which it likes to do sometimes.

Lovely motors - still miss mine. Mind you, I did become first name friends with the staff at the local Land Rover specialist. I get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that I funded his retirement.

Get the Bluetooth version

lrdirect.com is the cheapest.

I service my own, i find them dead easy to work on.

Yeah if you take the body off then they are.

With the body on, sometimes breaking your fingers is a good alternative to get certain things serviced, haha.

Routine servicing is a doddle.
Agreed though, some things like brake pipes need the body off. but a good indy can have the body off in about 2.5 hours labour. So not the end of the world.

Mine is going to have the clutch replaced soon. £300 labour from my local indy. Not bad i thought.

Yeah of course, routine servicing isn't a problem.

We have so far changed the alternator, the EGR Valves and the rear pump belt withouth the body having to come off, wasn't too much fun though. Especially the EGR valves on the euro 4 ones i think where they can't be blanked off because the engine will go into limp mode if you do.

Clutch replacement or the oil & filter change on the auto trannies isn't too much fun. 300 sounds reasonable.

Mine no longer has egr valves. Can't go wrong now

They can be blanked on the later models, but needs a software update.

You can buy a modified auto gearbox sump with a drain plug quite cheaply. Just need to remove the cross member to fit it.
