Jeeps don't like potholes

We all know our roads are in a hell of a state. In fact 42% of all Ford Focus problems are suspension faults.

You would think that a rough tough 4x4 would survive a little better but the car that comes off worst of all is the Jeep!!!

Personally i think its more to do with the faulty ball joints fitted to the jeep.
mine has allready had two recals for suspension related issues, including, ball joints, and for a 4x4 is pretty crap.

Ford Focus drivers drive their cars too fast over speed humps.

Yes, same here with two Jeep Libertys (Cherokee) both with ball joint recalls. So Jeep build quality seems to be very much on a par with another iconic 4x4 brand.

I've got a couple of British cars that on occasion get hammered over speed bumps on a main road. Well 30 mph feels like they are getting hammered. No major problems yet other than having to replace exhaust rubbers on one car.

If its a Jeep thats having problems then maybe they should get the designers to spend a bit of time studying British roads.

As with Goretex its suprising what innovative designs can come out of this small island when combating our hostile climes !!!

Although I guess our iconic 4x4 brand only gets tried out in exotic foreign climates and not in the real world.

Maybe we need one of these.

Seriously though: unfortunately Jeeps have the worst reputation for reliability in the USA among the major US manufacturers. Seems a bit ironic.
BTW I would say that the condition of the roads in the USA are far worse than the UK. A 1 ft. deep pothole in a major street is not un-common. We also have those "sleeping policeman" bumps everywhere. My friend calls them Schnuzencops.

I don't know when you were last in the UK but our roads really are in a shocking state now. There are sections of even main dual carriageways where it is not safe to tow a trailer. Cats eyes have all but vanished on many sections of road and to make matters worse they are now using EU standard tarmac of the kind used in Greece and Spain. This is too slippery for British conditions so they have to have concrete areas approaching junctions and traffic lights etc. Of course what happens if you have to do an emergency stop where there is no concrete???

This is of course excluding the huge number of speed humps on even busy main roads. They differ greatly in size and severity. Of course they seem to be far more important than road surfaces that are turning to loose gravel and also to gritting roads in winter. 4 cyclists were killed in North Wales as a direct result of the lack of gritting and the council just says it will review it's procedures...........
