great petition ban 4x4s

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/4x4danger/

I see they can't even spell - license instead of licence.

Of course they don't point out that whilst a child will come off rather worse against a 4x4 you are far more likely to see the kid in the 1st place - the Passat I am driving has terrible blind spots.

Why don't they campaign for parents not to let their kids play in the road???

The stupid thing is that a van is as heavy and will cause just as much damage plus the idiots guide to 4x4's means that things like Volvos and Subarus aren't included cos they look like cars. They are still a 4x4 vehicle. This is the usual reaction to the kensington tractor issue which is not related to vehicle but image and is an education issue.
My mother had an accident some years ago where a Disco ran into her side on at 30ish mph, she has ever since said they should be banned and how dangerous they are as my sister was injured quite badly and the car was written off. What she neglects to say is that she was the one who drove through a give way sign onto a main road directly in front of the oncoming vehicles, she was damned lucky it wasn't an artic!

Very honest of you to see it like that Bruce. She was hurt badly because it was a 4x4 - imagine it had been a motorbike - SHE would have been fine..........

Don't get me wrong, for town use only a 4x4 is excessive, I personally wouldn't have one bar for towing the boat but I fail to see how banning me from towns makes them any safer.
I used to be a biker too and still am if I can get my Bantam to run properly:-)
My sister fully recovered after a week or so in hospital so no lasting damage but I still hear how it was the other drivers fault when is was so obviously hers. It wasn't that she drove over the give way lines and past the sign, she didn't even see them!

Cod - you probably shouldn't be ribnetting when behind the wheel

I wonder if its worth starting a "ban busses from the roads" petition - I have seen the mess a bus makes of a 3 year old kid even at 20 mph and it isn't pretty... I don't understand the obsession with 4x4s but equally I don't understand the antagonism towards them either.

What a cunning way to get a comment up on a petition you disagree with - wish I had thought of it!!!

I'm sure there are plenty of us on this site who agree .... we may not have thought of it but that doesn't stop us joining in. I think I'll pop over to that site now and see how it works

I see the comments have been removed.
It is stupid misinformed idiots like the petition starter that make involuntary euthanasia seem like such a good idea at times.........

Bunch of idiots. Trouble is I think one day they will succeed. Road Tax on the newer ones will soon be £500 and its only going to get worse.

Time to leg it.
