Double Cabs......

Do any Double Cabs return more than 30mpg driven on long motorway runs or are they all in the twenties?

I get about 29 mpg on country roads on my Navara. Manage about 34 on dual carrageways (no motorways this far north). Running on BFG A/Ts but well pumped up. Cruise control helps. Playing around with a spider tuning box at the moment. Might be getting 36 in between tripping the engine management into safe mode.

Black though.

You didn't go for a dte box then ?

i have a pathfinder which the same thing with coil springs at the back . i only get 25 mpg on moterways at 80mph & to get 30mpg on other roads i have to do 30/40mph & very slow exceleration which is a pain main dealer no help ..any tips would help

Do you have a computer in the LR? Those are impressive figures you're getting. Our TDV6 Disco wont do that well.

No Computer, the 6 speed box is just great.

Why, should I have? Saw enough posts about the spider and was bored so I thought I would give it a try. Seems better but without a test facility I wonder whether its just the mind telling me that it must be better after shelling out 400 quid+.

About 1 week after I started playing with it the oil warning light started to come on intermittently. Thought I had screwed the engine and quickly took it out. Turned out it was just a dicky pressure sensor.

P.S. The figures I quoted are pretty exact since the BFGs are about 7% larger in circumference and now my speedo is bang on against the GPS. First thing I noticed on putting on the BFGs was a drop in mpg. Thought it was down to the rougher tread but then realised with the standard tires the computer must be overestimating mpg since it is overreading speed/distance.

That's cos the D3 weighs as much as the Moon and TDV6 engines are normally broken

My mate has a L200, he uses the throttle as a switch, we both did a tow to Swanage my LR V8 @ 15mpg beat him, his only returned 17mpg, factoring the higher cost diesel (quite at time) mine was the cheaper. My poor mate was in denial till I showed him the fuel reciepts and the tomtom calculated milage of his route.

Cant wait to repeat experiment when new Isuzu 2.8 is in the LR.

I can confirm Jono Garton's figures from my TDi300 LWB, similar load, possibly a tad better on towing. Less overtaking and general zipping about does it I reckon

tell me more tell me more. I've an old 110 2.25 diesel 4 speed box which I need to reengine I'm very fond of the Isuzu 2.8 lump , where did you get the comversion plates from please!

I agree - I get 28mpg no matter what - when towing I still get 28mpg - got to go slower grrr.
