Disco 1: Ambulance 0

Unfortunately the D3 is a little bent, but the Mondeo Ambulance that hit it came off an awful lot worse.

I was almost at a standstill and had just started to turn right into a side road when the Ambulance decided to overtake the cars that had slowed down behind me because he “Didn’t notice you were turning”. He then said “it’s obvious you were though as you were in the middle of the road”.
I think he was just trying hard to get where he was going.

I didn’t see or hear him until I caught a flash in my mirror a split second before he hit me.
Really annoyingly at least 6 vehicles were at the scene, but nobody stopped to be a witness.

He called his control centre and another Ambulance turned up very quickly with 4, yes 4, of his colleagues, very closely followed by two police cars with two officers each.

It was a little intimidating as he was obviously at fault, yet all the various High Viz jacketed people were talking to each other and huddling in groups around the paramedic and didn’t really want to talk to me apart from taking my details.

Had my first ever breathalyser test, which was fun.

My main concern is that with 175K miles on it they'll write it off after I spent £1400 on it two weeks ago having a TC fitted.

Anyway, the pictures show how strong the D3 is compared to the Mondeo.

Ouch, I feel your pain mate, that is not good.

Dont worry though, just because he was on B & T's, does not give him the right of way.

The disco should just polish out......

Presumably he thought you were one of the many heard a siren and panic people who stop dead. I was passed on a motorway slipped by what I think was a fire car that sounded his horn twice as he came past, I though it was quite sensible and safer for him and me, Mrs Poly thought it was unnecessarily aggressive... ... Poor guys can't win!

At least nobody was hurt, and hopefully the patient he was heading to in such a rush was no worse off for the delay in help arriving.

Is it all cosmetic? I.e. Could you take payment and live with it (or get an old school repair rather than panel replacement)?

Good to see the crumple zone on the Mondeo working well.

That's quite some damage to the car compared to the Discovery.

On the face of it it looks a pretty straight forward repair.

How's the neck

The siren on / off and tone change is on the horn button, a double tap normally means turning off the noise, a single horn on or change.

When the siren isn't in use (master switch is off) then the horn is just a horn.

Thanks guys, the neck is fine, although perhaps I should be complaining about it

The damage does look quite superficial, although today I've noticed that the upper and lower tailgates are now slightly misaligned, which can be seen in the image.
