The M270 is a Diesel, M320 is the Petrol.
there are other engines in the later ones, M420 Diesel etc, but at the older, lower, end of the price range the M270 and M320s are the ones you see.
I quite fancy an M55AMG but couldn't afford to buy or run it.

Actually, if I was to go for a Merc it would be a 'G' series.
Proper 4x4, 3 diff locks etc, but very expensive used.
Again a G55 or Brabus special edition would be favorite, but they are top footballer money.

The G400 with its 4l V8 Diesel would be nice but the early ones have a bit of a reliability issue, which considering an 2001 one can still fetch over 25K is a bit much.

Another advantage of buying from a main dealer.

I really was shocked by Stratstones prices. They are selling much better vehicles for a hell of a lot less than your average corner garage.

Plenty of new bargains around as well. Old shape(not much change) mazda RX8 brand new for 14995 - the top model - what a bargain car - maybe tempted in the New Year. I know they are expensive to run but they are as good as any other 30k car!!!

The original Glendlewagen wasn't up to much - not a bad vehicle but it was a Defender at RR Vogue money - no wonder they never sold many!!!

G series is a little too boxy for me

Yes it was the ML320's I was looking at and I thought where quite well priced for 2000 models.

Shame I missed that Anniversary model earlier in the year so am still looking for a nice Disco for the right price.

Someone I know at work has an early ML320, its done a shed load of miles and costs him a fortune to keep in the road. He also reckons the MPG isn't too much better than his Ferrari 355 round town.

I've done some research and it looks like you can get aftermarket manual front hubs for the majority of Jap 4x4s including the Terrano and the L200/shogun sport. I knew it was possible on the frrontera and the isuzu's but not that so many models were suitable fr a hub conversion.

Stratstones have closed a few dealerships recently I believe.

In this climate I think that many dealers must be desparate for cashflow.

MLs are cheap as chips in non-franchise dealerships at the moment as are most big 4x4s. But the reason is that most people can see past the badge and realise that it is a complete bag of shite, as evidenced by the JD Power survey results, Top Gear comments, etc. Unfortunately my brother wasn't one of them and he's lost a packet on his (270) and it was on road less than 50% of the time that he owned it. Good luck!!

Just had another look at the sites I found for manual hubs and none of them list anything for the D40 Navara
