cheap 4x4 automatic for green laning

I've currently got a quad which i use for greenlaning, it is a polaris scrambler 500 4x4.

i am considering changing it for a cheap 4x4 to do the same with. it has to be auto as i only have an auto licence. also not too high so i can get in easily

any recommendations or comments?
pajero?
vitara?
cheap jimny auto?
any others.......

thanks

RIBase
Depends what you call cheap. Most really cheap 4x4s will cost an arm and a leg in welding come MOT time. Troopers are renowned for the rust fairy being in residence.

You could spend £2.5k and get a good Hilux or Hilux Surf though-just avoid the 2.4 diesel Surf.

Completely forgot this thread. I got myself a jimny in the end for £1500. Since then I have fitted a winch, front towbar, spots, a small suspension lift and mud tyres. Great fun in the lanes round here

some of the lanes round here are a lot tighter, the narrow width of the jimny makes life easy for me.

I've had some great days out in it, and use it to launch the rib at the boatyard as well. Great value for money!!

Get it properly rust proofed - anyone who thinks Landies never rust has never seen a suzuki!!!

The best stuff to use is Acropol roof sealant - one tin is enough - slap it on really thick. Waxoyl inside cross members/chassis etc etc.
