The X6 isn't on air suspension unless you get the 50D. When I looked at getting a X6 40D, air suspension was an extra, if you didn't tick the air suspension box then you couldn't get the uprated towing capacity of 3500kgs.

When I looked into it, even most of the BMW staff didn't know.

Yes .. both my 5's were ... on the rear axle ... dont know about the 6 .... they were supposed to be self levelling , but I never saw any height variation in all the time I owned mine, but it was another towing advantage supposedly. I have to repeat what I said earlier although I know the OP is sticking to LR ... it was a superb towing vehicle, and I do a lot of miles

I would add though the hitch was a very noisy connection to the vehicle .. you felt every bump and pot hole the trailer went through
