Another note of caution re. main dealers. My L200 developed a prob where it would start fine when cold, but not when warm unless left to cool down. Took to be diagnosed at the Mitzy dealers, they were on the blower to say that the pump was F'd and that they required a grand to put it right, would I like to go ahead? I grabbed it back and paid the £67 diagnosis fee. Took it to the local Bosch guys, £219 later and a new anti-theft device on the back of the pump and it was perfect. I rang the service manager at the Dales Mitsubishi, Summercourt, Cornwall. His response was ' Well, you've had a result'! Should've demanded my £67 back.

I've had similar experiances with Mitsubishi dealers, and will never go near one again. If I ever get another job it'll be a Landcruiser next time.
Interestingly, the guys that will look at it tomorrow are the local Bosch guys, a place called Powerdrive in Portsmouth. £45 diagnostic fee.

An update.

Apparently the local Diesel experts could not ‘Talk’ to my car with their equipment, but as they do a lot of work for the local Mitsubishi dealer, the Mitsubishi dealer has run the diagnostics for them and found several fault codes all leading back to a faulty EGR valve, annoyingly it had a new one fitted under warranty when I first had it 3 years ago.

They have stripped it out to try cleaning it, but its not working electrically, I presume the solenoid is knackered.

On the old 2.8s the EGR valve can be blocked off or even replaced for about £35, but of course being the 3.2 I need to replace it, stump up about £250, and wait until Friday when they can get one.

Biggest annoyance is the chance of Snow tonight and not having the car to play with, particularly as I live on a very steep hill and often have to tow the wife’s Pug 206 up the hill in the morning when it snows.

Don't worry Nasher, I haven't got my 4x4 either. The heater matrix sprung a leak last week and I'm having another one fitted (hopefully). Looks like BIG £££'s also as the dash has come out .
