an ickle bit of snow!

Amazing isnt it? 4x4 owners are the devil incarnate during the summer, polluting the planet and warming the atmosphere. Now its snowing and any mention of "gas guzzling" (wot a loada bollox) 4x4s has disapeared and owners are now in demand to ferry medicines and food to those cut off and unable to travel in their Ford Ka etc. Advice is only to go out if you have a 4x4 etc etc.
Funny how attitudes change to suit the needs of the day, and how short memories will be when the road fund licences are hiked up again.

Yes, I also agree.

It's not as if drivers of 4x4s aren't taxed to the hilt on the fuel, which they're partial to a drop of. They also get clobbered for extortionate RFL duty on a vehicle which may only be used for a few thousand miles a year, in circumstances where a 2WD car couldn't perform. Stealth Tax.

I'll stop now, 'cos I'm starting to sound like Codprawn.

I took the Pizza bloke home yesterday, poor bugger had been waiting an hour for the plough to go through, free takeaway for me!

People have a dig at 4x4's but as soon as we get a bit of snow or rain and the 4x4 Response teams come into action every one seems to forget.

I think the stealth tax has been aimed at all those nobbers that have what can only be described as a Chelsea Tractor parked up on the drive with big fat low profile tyres that are as much use in the snow as a chocolate fire guard.

I know because I have one parked outside As soon as these tyres are worn out I will be swapping out the 19" alloys for something worth having !!

Problem is how do you differentiate

Anything with the same or more clearance than a BMW X3:

Mud terrains and all terrains = cheap tax.

Low profile = high tax.
