Getting ready to put the boat in is kind of like Christmas eve when you were a kid, you knew you were going to have a great day ahead of you. I always feel a bit of that when I put the boat back in the water after winter layup, Yippee!

Thanks Tucker and Pathalla, we are going to Finally put her in Sat morning. We are just waiting for the seekaflex to dry and finish up wiring up our new gauges and reinstalling smart tabs + vhf antenna today. Might need to break out the champagne or maybe just a nice cold sixer.

I decided I'm playing hookie today... The lake is flat calm and the sun is shining. We're contemplating a run across the bay to Killarney tomorrow if some friends will come. There's no one else on the lake yet, so a little company would be nice!

Pat, are you ready to launch yet, or still welding stuff?

Well, we finally made it out on the water. We had a problem with the engine sneezing and dying as soon as we got up to speed. She lost one cylinder and then another

. We ended up having to chug back in on one cylinder with the paddles at the ready. Rogan decided it was bad fuel and I thought our carbs were jelled up. Anyway, we decided to drain our fuel tanks and fuel line and try again. She ran perfectly

. I did however get a mouthful of gasoline, nothing a little beer couldn't take care of though. We ended up having a great time. Good old trusty yammy. Last time I ever trust fuel stabilizer over the winter in the tanks.

We couldn't get an accurate top speed reading since it was relatively rough out but I think she is 3-5 mph faster with the refinished hull. Satellite radio worked flawlessly no skipping cds or commercials and over 250 channels anywhere we go.

I would like to take the time to thank all those RIBner members who offered us help and support on this project. Thanks Stoo, Pathalla, dctucker and OceanEco. We could not have done this without you.

13 Hours in a U-Haul, one rather large dent from a concrete slab at the BP station in Virginia, and about 12 coffees later-I am finally back in Sawyer. Now it is time for the Fat Bastard to make its first Lake crossing of the summer. Of course, Carinya is also indefinitely invited...

I propose this Thursday, beer and ribs (the pork variety) will be available upon your arrival. Cancel the clients Bryan, and make this happen.

I can't wait to help you get a Zapcat with a tohatsu 70 on the back

. Should be able to put the fear into some of those annoying jet skiers.

As for your proposed trip, sounds like a great idea I will see what I can work out with clients and Rogan. It will depend on conditions though, it is 60 miles.

Ahhhhh, I have such fond memories of your beach house.

Do you think Thing one and Thing two could handle such a venture? A visit from other rib owners? The boaters of Chicago, the United States coastguard, the Chicago police dept and any other authorities would probably appreciate it if we somehow kept them occupied and away from the Screaming Red Haulin Ass Jumpin over waves and probably other boats "Fat Bastard" but somehow I don't think that would happen if we went there... To be honest, if we went there they MIGHT want to take us for a BOAT ride and to that all I can say is... BE AFRAID... BE VERY AFRAID!

The Fat Bastard comes to visit Carinya the sail boat. Starting to get more and more involved with sailing lately. Carinya is a sharp 40ft sloop built by Morris out in Maine. Awsome to sail in a gale after jumping the Bastard in some waves for a few hours.
