Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard Starboard is HDPE that has a UV additive. Hence, why it can't be heat welded. Totally different beast and very useful in certain situations.
For behind my dash and in my console, I just used cheap HDPE.

Could be. Not sure why it couldn't be heat welded in any case. It certainly melts the same (yes I have used it.) And I'm not really sure that HDPE is all that UV sensitive in any case.

You're right...there are people on THT that say it can be done (just did a bit of googling). I was going off what the guy at the plastics shop was telling me.

Just finished reading all 27 pages of this thread. Pretty awesome job man, turned out great! If I keep reading threads like this I may have to get me one of these big hard-bottom inflatables. I had a SRMN 5.2 for a while but ended up selling it before I got a chance to splash it. I'm thinking a 7m rib would be a perfect step up from the FC470 when conditions don't require the the smaller boat. Its all about having the right tool for the job!

Zodiac 733 rebuild
Glad you enjoyed the read. It's an awesome boat, I'm very impressed with it. That being says the rebuild is never going to be over. Today I removed one if the forward lifting eyes. Turns out there is no place to use it so I'll never need it, hopefully. I'll save some toes this way. My passengers will appreciate it
The wrench and socket are just for show. The impact driver did all the work. This is removed blind by feel either laying on your back in the forward hatch or head down upside down with your arm extended through a small hatch in the side if the compartment wall
The other one has to be done with the left hand!!!

I need mine to hold down my cooler.
They are also great conversation pieces.
Looks like a serious pita to remove. I just was down inside that access plate rerouting my running light wires. I had to cut a new access hole with new deck plate in the side deck just in front of console front edge to help, I can no longer go through the tank space with the integral. Bonus is more storage.

I have a pair of tie downs on either side, you can see them above and below the black spot. The second eye was was a PITA cause one of the bolts below deck broke off. Took a bit of persuasion with the 2lb sledge.
I have the AL tank so I can run the wire through there.
I just have to decide how to cover the ugly spot. Stainless cover plate? With tie down loop? Fiberglass? Starboard? Or just leave it?

Well I got the canvas for the top today and tied up the lighting. Lumitec LED lights. Red and white and dimmable I'm both colors. Works with just the plain old on off switch no controller needed.
I still have to mount the radar dome.

Solid but not built to carry stuff. It's just built off the rail around the console and that limits it. I didn't want to go to the deck since there isn't enough of that as it is.

Yah the layup behind those things is serious.
I actually use mine with the harness.
At least they are not sharp.

I have used the boat once since I removed the lifting eyes and it was much nicer. Considering the very few options I have to use them I think it was a good idea.

Sorry I was asking earlier about the T top. Did you do that yourself? I'm thinking of building off the existing handrail also. There were some boats in the chesapeake that had mongo T tops mounted that way. They tilted with the console and were tall enough to clear the transom. Getting out of the sun is pretty critical here esp. when there are family along.

I had somebody build it for me. There is a stainless guy in slo that has been doing it forever. He used to be down in Ventura for a long time. When I first met him at the beginning of the summer he was building a t-top for a boat like mine but a diesel that is down in Santa Barbara. It was smaller enough to flip with the console.

yes, Lowrance 3G. I didn't go 4G as I wanted it after I got stuck in the fog once coming back from Catalina and just wanted something good enough to see cargo ships and other small boats operating in the fog.
Got it running yesterday. I have no idea how to read it. Turned it on in the yard and assume I am seeing house and trees....
