My AC Cup grinder friend (nicknamed "The White Gorilla") pedals an 8"x8" full downhill triple crown fork bike as his uphill cross country setup for this reason.

Speaking of weight...I believe my diesel setup is at least 1000lbs heavier than your single outboard.

1350lb Engine dry
100lbs oil, coolant, raw water, hoses et al.
200lbs outdrive
130lbs transmission and jackshaft

My water line is basically where your bottom paint ends. But that being said, it still takes off like a cut cat.

I also noticed that my waterline moved a good couple inches in freshwater compared to salt. If that photo was taken in fresh, you will be even higher in salt.

Doh, it's hardly going to touch water in saltwater.

I have a 600lbs engine and the outboard bracket floats about that so it's a push. I guess I float like and empty hull.

$17,800 for a new Suzuki 250. Guess I know why I rolled the dice on a used one. Anybody want to but a zodiac hull? Just needs a motor. (Kidding....sort of, mostly)

Well, I bit the bullet today and bought a new Suzuki DF250AP. went with the electronic shift and throttle. Figured what the heck it's hopefully the last engine I buy for a very long time. My boat now costs twice as much as I had budgeted. I could have bought a working boat two years ago and been almost halfway done with the payments by now. What a stupid thing boats are!!!

Get that thing running!

Don't feel bad on the budget, it could be worse. You could HAVE bought a working boat and still be in the same position like I was. You made out well. You will have a new engine which is worth a lot more than the piece that blew up on you.

You'll forget about it once you are doing 40kts and enjoying the summer.

Consider it an education. I know too much about these boats now.

well it only took a month and a half but my new Suzuki 250AP and all the accessories are here today!! Boat goes to boat man tomorrow. Perhaps it can be ready for the weekend so I can putter around in circles for 10 hours.
