If I had a big sib/rib/engine configuration, sorry for the passengers, but definitely would ask a pesonal gas fee contribution; family is excepted. Generally ones own mates have lots of big time boating days to the total owners expense, don't realize there are many extra costs as car towing, marina launch fees, oils, beers, etc. With gas prices nuts every days for the last year or so, and $ to the ground in most countries (thanks to Uncle Sam) will be social acceptable. Is a must to share boating costs, forget about WOT, where the real action takes place. Throttle sufficient to maintain the boat on plane, or your wallet will suffer well in advance. Boating is a expensive sport, but definetely fun and priceless.

Happy Boating

Unfortunately, you can't do that in the US (well, from a legal standpoint.)

USCG regs state (rather explicitly) that no fee, barter, or trade can be made a condition of boarding (this is for recreational boaters.)

In practice, you cannot demand money or food or beer to take someone on your boat; they can offer and you can accept, but it can't be a condition of participation.

If you are a CG licensed captain, you can make it a condition. Recreational you can't.

Next to nothing. I just have a 6HP (next year has to see a bigger motor) and even at WOT all day it is nothing compared to boats back in the days of my younger years.

It still hurts to tank here though. Our prices are not what most of you on the island are paying, but the Germans are trying hard to catch up.

In a move to “safe the planet” they just increased the cost of Normal, to the same price of Super Plus. They are also planning another gas tax increase, to punish us for destroying the world.

Add to the above the weather this summer, which as ever summer here, just sucks. We are starting to go out in the storm & rain, better that than never.

ST,

It sounds like Ms. Merkel has drank too much of Al Gore's AGW Kool Aid.

Summer is here today!

I still didn't use a drop of gas, went to the trouble to take everthing to the river. Launched the boat, loaded it with everthing but the kitchen sink, got in, yanked the start cord.

Fell over backwards. #+*~"% *~## start cord broke!!!

No tools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went home, took it apart, and fixed it.

Now it is dark, and the motor won't start !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+#*~"%*~+*# !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

$1.30/Litre here which equals $5.20/U.S. gallon and so far I spent $800 for both truck and boat. It hurts but I'm a lifetime boat junky and just can't do without. I burn about $50-60 per afternoon of cruising in my Rib unless I start pinning the throttle a lot.

35 hrs this year and at 35 litres/hour (best case) that's 1225 litres in total at Forcourt prices so that's 1350 plus 4 US gallons of 2 stroke oil and that's another 120
