OK, early results indicate the 9th is better than the 23rd. We'll give it a few more days for anyone else to chime in, then make the call on Friday regarding the date.

Parking and traffic at the ramp isn't a problem. For big sailboat regattas, we've stored 20-30 trailers at the beach (without tow vehicles). The Annisquam River is a pretty important thoroughfare which bypasses Cape Ann on the way from Boston and south headed to NH and Maine. There's plenty of boat traffic, moorings and marinas so as long as we don't act like a bunch of yahoos, we'll be fine with kayaks and other users. It's about 4 1/2 nautical miles, and we'd be taking it slow for this portion, not blasting through the river as it's a no wake zone.

Marblehead to inner Gloucester, southern entrance to the Annisquam is ~12 nm, From The northern end of the Annisquam back to Marblehead is somewhere around 15-20 nm (guessing as I don't have a chart for above Twin Lights in Rockport handy).

If this one comes off well, I'd be inclined to do it again in the late summer and head south to Boston, either into the inner harbor, or cruising around the Islands.

So, given the responses above, and no one else chiming in to increase the number of attendees on the alternate date, I think we're going to stick with the June 9th date.

Done deal.

I'd like to join you on the 9th too, if I can. I've had inflatables for 15 years, first a Grand Raid then a Futura II, and I recently bought a Yachtline 540 from Brown's.

I'd be interested in a run with some other folks who know the area. Most of my boating (30 years) has been on the Connecticut River, not the ocean.

My wife is curious on if any of the Men are bringing their wives or significant others. In my household the boat loses 10 knots when mother is captain Also with the weather, is it still on rain or "snow"–I do not care, I am soft enough to go out in any weather.

My Admiral is planning on coming, but she would likely bail if the weather was not perfect. I, however, don't mind a little rain or snow.

I suspect that my wife, 7 year old daughter and 1.5 y.o. son will all likely be along for the ride. Unless the weather is lousy! Personally, I'm likely soft enough to go rain or shine. Over 20-25 knots though, and I'll stay in the bar! I have to go out in enough lousy weather when my wife is sailing.

johnrobinson, happy to have more!!

Hi All,

My wife is looking forward to the 9th. By the way, it's good to see another ribber from this area. I spend time on the lower CT river, I'm guessing you boat above Springfield? Anyway, we're both looking forward to the 9th. If she were not part of it, my next post would be "boat for sale".

Looks like we'll have 6 boats at this point:

MtStPipier -Tally Ho -Ribcraft 585
603doug -?? -HBI 5+mR
ribfan -no name -Ribcraft 6+mR
learning to fly -?? -Avon SR 5.4
johnrobison -?? -Zodiac 540 Yachtline
dctucker -Bouncy Pumpkin -Avon SR 5.4

Hopefully Ribcraft will help us get a few more. Two of us are local, 603doug arriving by water. Others by trailer I assume.

Anyone else interested?

My wife is a graphic designer and asked if we wanted to print out t-shirts marking the event. We are not trying to take any shirts from Ribnet, just do not know if we can get some in time and have the time and place printed on.

Turns out my wife will be out of town that day, but I will be there with the 2 kids. Little guy's favorite word these days is "BOAT!"

I have a closet full of t-shirts, so I'm ambivalent, but if others are interested, I'll go along.

Maybe something specific to our destination, as hopefully we end up doing a couple of these each year?

Borrowing from some of the names our UK brethren use, we could use Annisquam River Run/Rally? Round Cape Ann 2007? The Boston trip later this summer could be the Marblehead - Boston Rib Raid.

Personally I prefer colored shirts over white. Marblehead Green is a nice color.

If you want to keep the printing to a single colour then the RIBnet logo looks good in white on a coloured background

Give me a event name and my wife will take it from there. Colored shirts and addition color is not an issue
