beat the storm

dive partner(he has been sailing for 25 years) and i went out this morning before the northeaster hits. 4 ft sea, rain, wind,38 degrees, rib handled great, dive went well, got back to the ramp,coast guard met us and inquired if we were headed out. Told them they were 2 hrs late. We owned the seas no one was out or maybe we are not to bright. Tonight the forecast is for 20 ft. seas.
If only my rib was a little bigger

That's a fairly common accusation made of RIBers. We often head out to play when the 300' ferry in town doesn't leave dock due to the wind. (In fairness, it's just that the ship is so square, they have a heck of a time docking in a cross wind. I almost ended up with them stuck on my front yar a few years ago!)

Where do you dive down there Doug? I used to drag my little SIB down to Cape Anne every year since it is about the closest salt water to us. I keep thinking I should head down again with the RIB, but it's a long haul...

public ramp dover nh

I live about 20 miles from a public launch on the piscataqua river that dumps into portsmouth harbor nh. We can launch and be offshore on a great dive area around a group of a islands (Isles of Shoals) in 30 minutes. The river also has several sites at slack tide (river feed the Great Bay here so the current is very strong, 3rd fastest-flowing navigable river in the world*) Today might not be a good day to come out Stoo 18' to 30' seas, maybe tomorrow.
Anytime you or anyone for that matter wants to come out contact me (email probably the best)

I finally got in today... chilly but fabulous weather, with more to come over the next few days. There's still lot's of snow and ice on the north sidea of the islands, and the waster is damn cold yet for diving, but a great day none the less...
