Loose end

Following some buisness travel I'm at a loose end in Toronto next Saturday(8th Sept) all day, plus most of Sunday.

Any suggestions?

Nasher.

What sort of activity are you looking for Nasher? The waterfront is full of activity this time of year. I expect to be there Friday PM briefly...

Thanks for the advise prairie tuber.

Stoo, am flying back from Ottawa late Friday evening, would have been good to meet up, but I think it may be too late.

I think I'll try to book a day trip out to Niagra falls on Saturday.

Am currently sitting in a hotel room in Mississauga waiting for a meeting in the morning before moving on to Ottawa.

Nasher.

I assume you will be visiting the Canada side of Niagra falls; it is great. The USA side is very shabby. Have fun.

I'm Back

Thanks for the advise guys, unfortunately the trip didn't go quite to plan, so I ended up with less time in Toronto to myself than I'd hoped.
Didn't have time to go out to the falls, which was a big disappointment.

We had a good trip out on a pleasure boat Saturday afternoon before making the most of the night life, which was manic because of the Film Festival. I'd recommend the crocodile club to anyone who likes that sort of thing, particularly if you put on your best home counties accent, if you know what I mean

Is the RIB in the distance in one of the shots anyone on here?
From what I could see it had a white hull, Red/Orange tubes and two Black outboards.

Enjoy the images that were taken with my simple point and squirt didgi camera.

Sorry not to have been able to meet up Nasher...

That RIB is one of the Toronto Marine Police boats. They have a number of RIBS, but their newest one is a Hurricane 734 (or is it 744, or 743... anyway, the newest version of the 733...) I believe it is powered by a couple of Verados. I saw the boat when it was being "pimped" at my friend's shop. I tried to get him to let me have it and report it as stolen, but he wouldn't go for it the bugger... It's a fine boat, although I understand they're having some trouble with the engines...

Fantastic pictures Nasher! There are parts of Toronto that are actually quite pretty. That top right picture would make a great postcard photo for Toronto.

Thanks, they were taken on a simple point and squirt digital camera so are not that good when looked at closely.
The picture you are talking about was a fluke of timing.
We walked out of our hotel, around the corner, and the sun was directly behind the tower.
I enjoyed the short time I had in Toronto, Clean, friendly, etc, although I'd like to visit again in the winter to see the contrast.

I wouldn't bother. Most winters in Toronto are just sloppy and dirty. No one goes outside... at least not down to the waterfront.

During the last big snowstorm (about a foot), the now former Mayor called in the army to help dig out. Yet another reason why most Canadians love to poke fun at Torontonians....

The same mayor who thought it would make a great photo-op of him shaking hands with some Hell's Angels and referring to them as "good ol' boys".
