ignition harness

I was wondering if i can remove the ignition wire harness from a mercury side mount control and mount it seperately for use on a binnacle setup? or would it be easier to just buy new harnesses. thanks

Mercury has online parts diagrams for almost everything through their website. Might try looking up the control boxed and seeing if the harness is the same or different.

I've done this before, its pretty straightforward if you're ok with wiring. The ignition switch can very easily be mounted on a panel or even just in a hole in the console. You'll probably need to buy a replacement killswitch which can be panel/console mounted, but this will simply plug into the wiring in place of the old one. Then you just need to connect the trim and start in neutral wires and you're good to go.
