Holy December Tropical Storm

Our weather situation is evolving this morning (going downhill) with a system trying its best to get cranked up NE of here.

.TODAY AND TONIGHT....TROPICAL DISTURBANCE LOCATED THIS MORNING TO
THE NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS IS FORECAST TO MOVE
ACROSS THE LOCAL AREA THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING. THIS
FEATURE IS EXPECTED TO BRING SIGNIFICANT SHOWER ACTIVITY ACCOMPANIED
WITH THUNDERSTORMS AND WINDY CONDITIONS WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH OVER
LAND AREAS AND EVEN HIGHER OVER THE LOCAL COASTAL WATERS.

I measured a gust here an hour ago at 55mph. This pales of course when compared to the power of the North Pacific and North Sea but we were certainly standing down from this weather here, a month ago. I suspect my ever shakey power provider to go offline later today, or at least my wires here in the mountains to give it up. Wind damage however is secondary to water and I just hope this isn't going to be one of those 12 inches of rain in two hour deals!!!

No track has been posted as the low has not achieved closed circulation but...were I in the Bahamas or SE U.S. I'd look over my shoulder in the next day or so....

I was very worried 2 days ago - they were predicting 90mph but we only had 70mph which is nothing for us. I have a large tree hanging over the house which is rather worrying and my boat is in a very exposed harbour but all was ok.

Hope it doesn't get any worse for you - at least your rain is warm..........

Our power supply is very boring - only goes off about once a year at most and then only for a 1/2 an hour. Most people would think that's great but our lives are way too pampered in the UK now. Could do with some excitement now and again!!!

A 3 foot long diamondback rattlesnake in the garage at 5 am. today sort of livened thinks up a bit here. The dog found it and started barking. Fortunately he is smart enough not to mess with them.

No boots from one snake. Probably just a hat band.

You need a cat. They're fast with snakes.

Cats are not fast enough, trust me I know. Need a mongoose or a shotgun.

Believe you!

But I had a cat once who was a smartie with snakes. Watched her play with one near the back door of my house. Amazing skill and speed. The various snakes in the area were bad news. But she completely outsmarted it.
