Heads up Re: findmespot unit price drop

This might not be relevant for the U.S. guys, but London Drugs has just dropped the selling price of the findmespot units from 175 CAN to 119 CAN. I am not sure if this is a permanent price drop or if other sellers have also dropped the price on these units, but $ 119 CAN is an excellent price for this piece of gear. While not an EPIRB, it certainly can be a lifesaver just the same.

Hi Stoo,

I haven't got one of these yet myself but was definitely planning to. I also just learned that there will be a 2nd generation unit out later this fall which will help address some limitations that the 1st generation had such as a weak/ limited signal when in deep canyons & canopied forests (though not huge concerns while ribbing/sibbing ).

Here is a pretty extensive review of the current unit:

Here is some info about the new unit that will be coming out.

Thanks PT. The introduction of the new version is likely the reason for the price reduction...

Probably. I called Wilderness Supply here in Winnipeg and they said the new unit should be available by November. I'll probably wait another couples of months for it.
