Painting radar

Very nice!
I see quite often radar that are painted black. I have a white radar reflector, thinking of painting it black I check with the manufacturer and they do not recommend it for the following raison:

"Hi Claude, We do not recommend painting the case as coatings may contain metallic or carbon properties which restrict response. As black Polyethylene contains carbon the EM180 is the only product we make which is not available with a black case. Most paints will not adhere PE.I hope that this answers your question
Regards John

In a message dated 12/02/2012 14:42:38 GMT Standard Time:
Good day Last year I bought an Echomax 180 with a white polyethylene case did'nt knowing that other colors were available. Is it possible to paint it (black) without altering the performance ?
Thanks and best regards, Claude Morin

Do you think this may also apply to radar?

Nice looking seats, will be using them on a new "extreme" boat we are building as well.

Would love to get my hands on a 8M Cat

Hysucat, I would love to get my hands on an 8M to try State Side. Let me know if you need to put one through its paces.

Yes it does apply to Radars. You need to make sure their is no metal in the paint. Raytheon recommends you use an Epoxy paint
