Dolphin off the bow!

Following up on fellow ribnet members (CAH's ) tip,I headed out offshore in search of dolphin.
They found me
Spotted the first two heading straight for me
Had about half a dozen playing around and surfing the bow wave.(8 knots seemed their favorite speed )
Surprised me how fast these little suckers were!
Shooting at 1/500 but still needed faster!
They seemed nippier than the common dolphin we usually get.
Well ,first attempt this year so will learn from my mistakes and hope to do better next time.
Saw one grey whale also, but was being mobbed by whale watching boats ,so decided to give that one a miss this time.
Also passed a small Sun fish floundering around on the surface, but unfortunately submerged by the time I turned around to get a shot;
cheers dal

Pacific Whitesided's?

We usually get Risso's up here. Pretty ugly things, and not exactly friendly. They're really good at going in a straight line until you get a bead on their heading, submerging and changing direction, and popping back up a quarter mile away.

Nice pics.

Nice pics

The camera I take with me in the boat has a crap shutter lag so all I usually get is a pic of a splash, I guess yours is better or your reactions are better!
