Britain not quite as bad as the USA - maybe

Just watched Beach Patrol from San Diego - it seems fun is just as illegal over there!!!

The Police have nothing better to do than chase topless women off the beaches and stop people from drinking booze.

I couldn't believe the way they treated some 16 and 17 yr old girls who were having a beach party. They were decent girls just having fun - no trouble or fighting or anything. The girls were arrested and charged - they even had their driving licences taken off them - for drinking on a beach!!! The cops attitudes stunned me - weren't THEY ever young once???

Tony Blair has done his best to ban fun in this country but even our Police aren't quite that bad!!!

re drinking

If they were underage that is a big no no over here... So is drinking in a public place, you need to be in a bar or restaurant with a license or on private property...
The U.S isn't pefect Cod, far from it.
A lot of laws are revenue generators.. problem is a few stupid people do stupid things... next thing you know a stupid politician is putting another law in effect which affects everyone, sound familiar?

yep, can ge a little severe!
The drinking age is 21 over and is a serious offense to break the law; especially in public.
Even more so , as during spring break here a few years ago , the partying on the beach escalated into a full riot. Properties damaged, cars burned etc.. so they have really clamped down on it hard.
Most of the year San Diego is a pretty laid back place;however on Spring break(read big excuse to get drunk and laid ) the camera crews on this show made it seem a little bawdy and excessive.
Are you getting the full season of this show or just one you pulled of the web?
cheers Dal

Drinking age is 21 in California. Voting age is 18. Go figure.

In truth, there is a big push against underage drinking, in order to protect these kids from themselves (actually, working at a community college, I can see why...)

The "in" thing right now is for groups to push for laws limiting activities that they deem inappropriate, in order to promote a "Morally Healthier America". Kind of odd considering that America was built on the premise of personal freedoms. Oh, well...

It's a bit like the USA having the biggest porn industry in thw world and yet going nuts when Janet Jackson popped out!!!

The danger of being so strict on kids drinking booze is that they may well turn to other things......

Codprawn,
I was on scene at two of the shoots.
The first was a boat sinking offshore at Point Loma and you see me in the distance as the camera boat closes in.(dont blink!!)
The second was for a drunken PWC driver with an obnoxious passenger.
Both times I think they edited me out of the footage ,as it would have displayed my website on the RIB.
The camera crew hung out with the lifeguard boats as you can see in the photos.
The last image is for Prairie tuber who wont read anything unless it has naked drunk girls on it It's tough work being on the water with a camera
cheers Dal

Well, my parents and grandparents were incarcerated during WWII. Still doesn't change the country's foundation.

Didn't say things were perfect.

Ah...you poor regulated fellows!

In the Virgin Islands some laws exist but few are enforced. I've observed over the years that in spite of letting people do pretty much what they care to do here, crime, disorder and general lack of civility is either less or at worst about the same as on the continentent where every effort is made to regulate morality and behavior of all sorts.

I think I'll grab a fresh beer and ride to the store on my lawn mower to buy some fish hook.
