Avon 5.4m in San Diego, CA

Not mine, no affiliation, but seems like a great deal (and is probably devaluing my Avon!!!)

I brought it home and blew out the carbs with some fresh fuel and it ran like a sewing machine.
I'm not sure if that's good or bad. :-)

Probably because your name isn't on the title, and you *hate* that...

this looks like a steal, id advise anyone to buy it if its not a total piece of junk. i have a 5.4 and it is an amazing boat, it weighs only 800 lbs and can handle just about any seas. you will stop well before the bopat will. i am always amazed at how my boat handles and ive had it almost 15 years now.

I've been looking at this one for a while now and just secured a place to store it. I am new to the RIB world. ANy tips on what to look for specifically on these SRs? I'm new to boating but know to look for cracks/repairs to floor, hull and transom. Anything else would be greatly appreciated.

Are you taking a look at it tomorrow? Seller said a few people are coming to check it out. Check the transom for rot, seller sent me a few pics and it looks like there are a few aftermarket bolts going through the transom.

Turbo,
Yes, I saw the pics and spoke to the owner. I am driving down tomorrow morning. He said the other party would be coming later in the day. I saw the bolts... is that a concern? Obviously Ill make sure it feels solid but is there anything else to look for?

You need to pick that up otherwise I will be forced to buy it I told him I can be down there Sunday.

Just look for any soft spots, it should be fine. I had him send me some pics of the lower rear tube seams and they looked fine. I wouldn't worry about the tubes being worn from UV or wear, you can add some Hypalon or Seadek. For that price, it will fit your needs perfectly.

If in doubt, just take plenty of pics and post them here. The pros will let you know.

Turbo,,
Do you have anything for sale if I pass on this? Or maybe just an engine if I only buy the boat?
