Air Race support

Who do you call when you need help on the water?
RIBs of course
Selection of local support and enforcement ,for the Red Bull air races this weekend.
My buddy was the main rescue "base" for the scuba "Jet ski" team. They were practising fast deployment and rescue techniques,so thought I would grab a few shots.
cheers Dal

Race Day

Drat!!! The coasties pushed us even farther back on race day, which made any close ups of the race planes near impossible
Grabbed a few of the fly by's though.
To make matters worse, they decided to bring the Abaham Lincoln carrier back in ,so cleared us back even more

Even so, fun being out on the water and seeing some of the local "colour".
Do you thnk this guy needs a bigger flag

Some race photos , courtesy of a photo website member, that I belong to

Did that a couple of years ago with the "Thunderboat "races.
With my double pod seating;it made it a little too cramped for a diver and paramedic to be comfortable.
The race officials were interested in my rescue training shots ; so maybe try and nogotiate a press pass for next year in return
cheers Dal

The guy with the flag is "Da Woody" a pro shooter who frequents Sailing Anarchy, the sailing equivalent of rib.net.

Nice photographs! Were all the planes props or did the jet classes fly too?

Ah, the U.S. Navy. I mentioned before that while sailing on the tall ship Picton Castle in Norfolk during the 300th for Jamestown the Navy in all its wisdom deployed two nuclear subs outbound into the massive fleet of tall ships and spectators. It was, as they say, "a chinese fire drill".

I'm sure the race was a great show!
