20' Caribe project

Just picked up a 20' Caribe project. It might look familiar. It needs some TLC and cleaning but I think it will make for a fun boat.

Yamaha 115 pushed it to 44 mph with two people up. Honda 150 is most likely going on it now. It feels a lot lighter than an SR6 so Im hoping to be able to turn this into a 60mph tender for my mega yacht. Just kidding, I don't have a mega yacht but I do have a feeling that the Lingcods and Rockfish will enjoy being landed onto the nice plush seat cushions instead of a hard deck.

Well, hey; you have to start somewhere.

You should probably pick out the curtains next, then think about what mega yacht you want to hang them on.

The white tubes were blinding in the sun, they showed foot prints way too easily and the top sides needed some TLC anyways so I had it coated with a nice grey. Not sure of the brand of coating but its made for Hypalon and its a lot more flexible than the usual Hypalon paint (you can stretch and fold/crease it with no harm). Also removed the original narrow rubber wear pads and replaced them with larger and beefier wear patches. I had the handles on top removed and replaced with a life line. Grey non skid coating on the deck is on its way. Not sure where else to go next but making it less "yacht tenderish" is the general direction. Definitely wont go full out commercial/military with jockey seats and aluminum consoles though. I want to keep it family friendly, or should I say budget friendly

That was the same model boat as my first boat. You can see my old boat if you ever go to South Lake Tahoe, I sold it to the guy that owns a marina up there, big yellow inflatable. Definitely needs more than the 90 I had on it. Hard to beat for a family lake boat, the front cushioned area was very popular. I have a nice folding ladder I can sell you that would work great for it

Hey Zip, how is the 7M so far? I ended up going with a new Yamaha F115, which is 50 pounds lighter and has more power than the older model 115. It should be a light and solid 45+ mph Rib. I found that most people who have come to buy or check out my Ribs are new to boating so I figured a brand new motor with full warranty might be a good selling point.

Jason, lets see some pics of that ladder, I might be interested. I do love the cushy front seats. This is the first boat I have had where I can actually sit/lay down and relax.

I've only put around 10 hours on it in the last 6 months. Been real busy with work.

Thanks Jason, I will take it. PM sent.

New floor coating is down. This boat cleaned up real nice so far. Cant wait to get fish blood all over the deck. This Caribe is my first boat without elephant trunks so I will see how well those two deck drains work.

Nice Job on floor paint. Can you share what non-skid paint you used? Thanks!

What plugs the drains? Hopefully not the ping pong ball thingies that never work...

there were no plugs on mine, just some plastic screen inserts. It just drains to the bilge.

I will get you that info soon, got to ask my guy at the shop. I was going to do the tube work and deck coating myself but then realized it would probably take me 2 years to finish.

Hey did you ever get that 533?

Yep that was my first "big" rib. I remember seeing it in person before buying it and thinking that it was so huge. Super fun boat that pulled me into this downward spiral of my rib addiction.

New Yamaha F115 is on her. Going to clean and rewire a few things then make a trip to the Farallon Islands to test her out and break in the motor. It should be in the for sale section with more details and more photos. Cool ladder from Jason also arrived and it looks great.

The only major change might be a different seat in the back. I found this folding bench seat that should work.
