Yamaha trim sender query

I have been searching the internet to try and solve this but I think I might be even more confused!!!

I have an old yam 50 (DETO) and there is a trim sender on the bracket. I would like to hook this up to a gauge but don't know which one??

From what I have read on the internet yamaha changed from a three wire sender at some point to a two wire sender. I don't believe the deto ever came with a gauge or sender so I am guessing mine has been fitted at a later point. I believe mine is the three wire version (at least three wires leave the sender anyway)

So does anyone know the part number of the gauge and harness I need to make it all work?

I would like a Faria gauge but from what I have read all modern gauges use the two wire system?

Can anyone help?

Simon

It came a 4 wire sender unit.
6E5-83672-01 Sender
6Y5-83670-01 Harness
6E5-82553-10 Meter.

I dont think sender will work with your gauge. I did it years ago by taking the internals out and fitting Faria face .

Thanks Davie, legendary knowledge [emoji2]

Don't suppose you have any of the bits knocking around?

Sorry to revive an old thread but as part of my outboard overhaul I am going to try and get this sorted. A massive thanks to Davie for sending me the parts to fix the broken lower mounts from another thread[emoji106]

My Faria Tach got goosed when my battery become disconnected in some waves so I have sourced an old Yamaha lcd multi-function gauge and two wiring harnesses from fleabay that I think are compatible with my engine.

I have attached the tacho and it seems to work fine.

There are 4 wires from the harness (engine side) that match the 4 wires from the sender so I am guessing they will marry up, one of the connectors is broken so I need to replace before I can check. The old sender also has a broken arm and seems well corroded in so I need to remove and replace. Any tips on how to get those two pesky screws holding in place out?

I also cannot find the engine side plug for the oil level sender, do I need to disconnect the three lights on the front of the outboard or is there a separate plug somewhere?

Thanks again as always

Simon

This is the harness for the oil level. Sorry it’s a bad photo, the white plug is the gauge end and matches a plug on the gauge but I am struggling to see how the engine end connects.

There are two wires with a male and female bullet connection but I cannot find the corresponding plugs in the engine?

There are the same coloured wires from the oil tank sender so do I need to splice some connectors on here or will there be some connectors somewhere in there?
