Wiring vhf to chartplotter

Looking for confirmation I'm doing this right, currently have a garmin 551 and a standard horizon gx1100e VHF
From what my basic knowledge is the purple from VHF goes to the brown input on garmin?

The green from VHF goes to ground of gps/ neg on buzzbar ?

Blue from VHF goes to blue output of gps?

Correct me if wrong and steer me in right direction folk
Cheers
Graham

Have you tried goggling it , recently wired my garmin 551s to show lat long on cobra radio, only had 1 red wire from vhf which went to blue on garmin, and black from vhf went to black on garmin, this only allows garmin to talk to vhf not both ways, also had to set garmin ports to nmea etc, not sure if this is any help ?

Both off same battery , when turned on the VHF is meant to show satelite icon in corner of screen but not getting it? This is supposed to show before I add mmsi number which I'm yet to do

Can't see why you need a satellite to prog the MMSI.

You do have to go into the settings on the gps change to tell it to recognise the pairing

Looks like you would take:

Radio Blue (+) Input to GPS Blue (Output)
Radio Green (-) Input/Output to GPS Black (or both via the ground/-ve terminal of the battery
Radio Purple (+) Output to GPS Brown (Input)
(GPS wires on the power connection rather than the NMEA 2000 port)

On GPS -- Home Screen / Configure / Communications
Serial Port - NMEA Standard (COM 1)
NMEA 0183 Sentence - ??Route??

I assume you have a position on the GPS screen... No pos on that screen I don't think anything will output to the NMEA..
