Must be - I've killed two! (Admitedly I don't know how long they had been aboard before I bought the two boats......)


Bottom line - dodgy contacts anywhere in the system aren't good.

Still trying to solve Problem:
Jabs looks like you might be getting the cigar as experts now tell me that when the engine heats up the insulation on the stator breaks down causing short;
I am current waiting for stator to replace the faulty one hopefully!!!!!
But the sting in the tail is if it is not the stator that's causing the problem then it has to be the regulator so I will have to replace that as well !!!!

Will post with results hopefully soon.

Final Closure

Finally got to the bottom of my problem.

RECTIFIER/REGULATOR

See attached photo and you will notice bubbling on the blue part of the cover.

Must of overheated and shorted at some stage.

Fitted a new one and a nice steady 14.2 volts.
