VHF : ICOM 401 or Raymarine Ray54E

Currently looking for a new VHF as my Humminbird that I got with the RIB is no longer working.(being honest I dont think it ever work)

Anyways looking for opinions on the 2 VHF units I have seen and liked the sound and of course the look of.

Cheers

Dave

ICOM ... there is no question about it

althought I now have a Navman 7100 dsc unit ... and I like it too . We will see how well it stands the test of time .

NO

BUT

I've used Standards, Humingbirds, Sailors, Simrads, Silvas, ICOMS, Entels and a few others but no others seem to come up to the same standard as the ICOMS.

Fine you'll say don't knock it till you've tried it but in the boating world thats an expensive game!

I'd say go for the slightly more expensive ICOM and it should last longer.....in my humble opinion anyway!!!
