Question for Jon!

I've got two Icoms that have chosen to die on me at the same time.

The MC21 handheld does not hold its charge at all and the 401 speaker has got a loose internal connection I think as the speaker is always very quiet.
Trouble is, can't find the receipt for the handheld, about two years old, can you trace it's age via the serial number?
Also the 401 was on the boat new, will the dealers receipt do if I send it back.

Needless to say, whilst an inconvenience, these are the first problems that I have ever had with ICOM so will definitely put it down to one of those things and keep buying!!.

I am in hernia bay tomorrow so will be able to drop the handheld off to you

Oh yes you do. Overheard on Sunday.

"Posh lady in a 37 yacht informing Solent Coastguard that a scruffy little speed boat with 3 people on board wearing very tatty lifejackets was taking water over the bow in the enterance to Portsmouth harbour.

Solent Coastguard asked if she was in a position to help, to which she replied that there 37 foot yacht couldn't posibly tow that thing into Portsmouth.

Stunned silence from the Coastguard, and pleats of giggles from everyone else listening. The Coastguard finally agreed to provide help via Gaffers I think.

My only regret was being 15 miles away at the time. would loved to have been there and given the posh lady some technical advice.
