VHF/Chartplotter and NMEA

Heres one to get you thinking

I have two DSC VHFs one fixed and one handheld. I have worked out the NMEA connections e.g. nmea + and – (naming convention does seem to vary in the handbooks), anyway I’m ok with that bit.

However my question, I am going to run the two vhf’s from the chart plotter as it has the necessary output, nothing Unusual there. However I was going to connect the vhfs in parallel, however will this cause the electrical signals to become conflicted, e.g. messaging. (GGL e.t.c) from the chartplotter to the vhfs. Or is it as simple that the chart plotter will send the position message out and it is simply received and interpreted by both.

Yes, it should be. A fanout of 4 is kinda common. If that is the case with your plotter, you can drive 4 inputs from one output. The manual may tell you.
