Overboard Bags

At last years Southampton Boat Show, I purchased a couple of bags from Overboard.
The large one I have used as a large general bag, never really exposing it to harsh or very wet conditions.
Today, I needed somewhere to keep an IPhone and car keys whilst out on the water.
Waterproof, my ass!! I now have a dead iPhone and key fob is drying out!
I shall be visiting the stand in September for reimbursement of the damages .....

I got 3 free ones for when I liked their FB page and had no problems with any of them but I do not submerge them. I use mine clipped on the console while out ribbing.

Went to the I.O.M. a month ago and used one to keep my phone and camera in, plenty spray was hitting it and all was dry inside, you do need to fold it at least three times though before fastening the clip.

I have the small rucksack one which I clip round the rear seat pod as a grab bag. they do puncture easily as I found out when I emptied it which I don't normally do, everything was rusted up in the bottom of the bag!

Bought another one though they are good if you look after them.

Had a couple of their rucksacks for about 4 years now, purchased from Gaelforce Marine, and no problems with them at all, both in good working order still.

So apparently you didn't do the IOS upgrade.

[sauce: There was a rumor going around that the IOS upgrade to whatever the 5 was using made a 4 or 4S waterproof. Apparently a lot of people believed it based on the number of drowned iPhones that starting appearing.] There was also a rumor that you could dry your water damaged iPhone out in the microwave...

I use an old flare container, fully waterproof and floats and all keys, wallet etc and iPhone in one place, so making valuables easy to find and waterproof

I use small ziplock bags which I got, that just fits my phone, then put it in a dry bag. Phone screen etc still works inside the ziplock bag, just gives me more peace of mind after already having to renew an I phone.

People make waterproof smartphones and you folks who are round water all the time are still relying on little bags to keep very expensive equipment dry... ...Mr Jobs is up there laughing at you all!

Drowned an iphone 4S on Good Friday

Bought a 'waterproof' Sony Xperia (housebrick) on Easter Monday.

Got rid of it (absolutely incompatible with everything else - Parrot system, Zeppelin, etc, etc) and bought an Iphone 5 at Whitsun.

Invested in a Lifeproof cover

Still going strong on August Bank Holiday!

I use the small plastic boxes with the seals and clips on each side. Cheap and cheerful fro the local hardware store. Various sizes & they float..

Haven't had a wet phone or keys yet !

No way would I trust a foldy uppy thang with my delicates if big seas were likely. In fact, even arriving with wet camping gear is an utter ball ache. I keep my phone etc in a seat pod , a peli for sure in a sib. I have a 200 ltr hypalon/dry zip mother of a thing built by Avon for everything else. A rarity I think.

My phone, wallet, and Smart Key go into a Pelican 1050 case, then into a dry bag that gets clipped off to the boat. The dry bag has been dry for years, but it is a bag and could get punctured. The Pelican case is pretty tough. The dry bag holds other boat gear like my pressure gauge, binoculars, tyvek suits (They pack small and are "waterproof"), boat registration, and a few other items.
