navman from the usa

I am interested in the Navman trackfish 6600. The cost from the states is $1095 inc shipping even with the duty and vat (which correct me if i'm wrong, will be around 20%) brings the cost to around £700. Does anyone have any suggestions which would make this look like a bad idea.

I am looking at Navman because of the smartcraft compatability.

1 The base map will probably have less detail on it than a UK model?

2 There may be warranty issues?

3 You will need a separate component to plug the Smartcraft gauges in - they are not plug and play items as they come!

I bought a plotter this year It worked out about half price!
But if it went wrong it may not be such a good deal!

Navman haven't always had a great reutation in the past which is why I didn't do the same - they will look after you if you have probs from a UK supplier but not sure about stuff bought abroad.
