The 182 to 421 is quite easy, thats what I have.
Cut off the rca plug and connect the two wires to one of the channels from the 182. From memory they are Brown/blue and green/white. The + connects to the - on both. Should work no problem.

DONT CUT THE PLUG OFF!
thats why we put a lead in the box!!

NMEA + inner
NMEA - outer

As per page 48 of the manual.

As fopr Garmins pin outs or anyone elses refer to them or their manual.

Hope that helps

Sorry, realised it was the fuse I cut off as it was hardwired in and didn't use the one supplied. The connections were made to the flying lead AFTER the RCA plug.
Oops, hope nobody was too hasty

Garmin NMEA out it normally the blue lead.
This goes to the NMEA + in the M421
THe outer goes to NMEA - or ground on the Garmin

I can't remember the clours precisely without checking but do know for certain that Ch1 is Blue and brown and fairly sure ch2 is Green and white with yellow for alarms. which one is + and - I can't say without checking the manual.
You can use either ch 1 or ch2 for the VHF as long as you enable the relevant channel in the menu of the Garmin.
