I was talking to a bloke at work yesterday who was getting frustrated with his Magellan – not sure of the model number but can check.

The Blue Nav charts he has are downloaded from a cd -rom on a PC to the SD card in the Magellan. He was moaning that with this setup if he downloaded the Solent chart and wanted to go to Poole he would have to download a new chart from his PC to the SD card in the Magellan as he was going along. Maybe just about ok if being a WAFI but not so good on a rib. Perhaps all GPS plotters are like this ?

If this is just user error and not a crappy feature it would be good to know as this could provide me a rare opportunity to be a smart arse.

Magellan

Its probably down to the size of the SD card. Simple answer is to have a couple with charts of the area's on. Then it's a matter of just switching the cards.

Stay Safe.
