Lowrance HDS 5 or Other Combi Plotter Sounder with Memory card Slot

Anyone got any experience / comments on the HDS 5 or any other chart plotters that I can record the track and depths of that track and put on PC afterwards?

Humminbird

Look at the Humminbird thread, they are awesome and will do what you want, they write to SD card so easy to transfer.

Alternatively you should be able to link your nmea out to a laptop to write a file of position / depth. Use Dr Depth or similar and you will be able to create your own bathymetric chart.

Jono,

We have an HDS7 but are yet to use it in sonar log mode. The manual says you can and you set the rate at which it takes a sounding/GPS location (this decides how fast the card fills) I'm not sure if the unit will retain its memory of the chart card (only one slot on the 7) so we may be logging on the background map not our navionics quality chart. I'd love to fit an LSS1 module and log sidescans also.
